SMD a leading provider of cutting-edge underwater robotics technology and MARESCO Ltd as agent, are proud to announce the signing of a major purchasing contract with HCMR, a premier institution dedicated to marine research and innovation. The agreement, signed in Herakleion, Crete on 10th of September, will see SMD supply its state-of-the-art “ATOM EV” Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) capable to dive up to 4.000m depth to support the research center’s efforts in exploring and understanding the depths of the ocean.

This ROV, designed for robust performance and equipped with the latest in underwater imaging and sensor technology, will be pivotal in aiding HCMRS’s various research initiatives, including deep-sea exploration, environmental monitoring, and marine conservation. The vehicle’s advanced capabilities will enable precise data collection in extreme underwater conditions, making it a crucial asset for both scientific research and environmental protection projects.

The ROV in question is equipped with high-definition cameras, multiple manipulators, and a wide array of sensors, allowing for extensive seabed mapping, underwater archaeology, and deep-sea biology studies. Its adaptable design ensures it can perform efficiently in diverse underwater environments, from shallow coastal waters to deep ocean trenches.
